Apprentice Events 2023

Below are the 2023 Public Power Lineworkers Rodeo Apprentice event descriptions.

Event 1: Written Test

The 20-minute written test that includes 40 questions, encourages knowledge of safety rules at all times when working in the field and during competitions, such as the Public Power Lineworkers Rodeo. Questions come from specific sections of the 17th edition of the APPA Safety Manual. A high score in this event is crucial for competitors seeking “Overall Apprentice” recognition.

The Apprentice Test will be using the sections listed below:

Section 114: Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR),First Aid, and Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs)

Section 503.1 – 503.7: Vehicle Operations

Section 509: Underground Lines and Equipment

Event 2: Hurtman Rescue
